This morning, we took a minibus no.56K from Exit A3 of Fanling Railway station, and then got off @ Nam Chung, Sha Tau Kok (@ Luk Keng Road). As it's a public holiday, many people came to Nam Chung for bird-watching and took photos of the famous wetland in this place.

We had breakfast near the Nam Chung Wetland, together with bird-watching. It was quite windy at the seaside and we were nearly frozen... but still took many photos for the birds.

(Top)A temple for the 5 Dragon Kings(4 Dragons for the 4 directions, and the one in the middle as their "boss"), (Bottom)A Tin Hau Temple at the seaside.

There's a little island which looks like the rest area for the birds.

Just walked along the road near Nam Chung Hostel (Camp House and Recreation Centre), you can reach the 3 villages of Nam Chung. There's also a big piece of wetland here.

A big fish pond near the entrance of the villages.

First had a walk to Hip Tin Temple. At the back of the temple is Cheng Uk Village, which is a private place and NO ONE is allowed to enter except the residents and their friends.

Lo Uk Village near Nam Chung Pavilion, there's also an Organic Farm-house nearby.

We could see the old village houses of Nam Chung,.

A GOOD warning sign here: NO Fishing and NO killing of animals during the Tai Ping Festival in the area nearby.

We walked along Luk Keng Road and reached Lei Uk Village. But just the same as Cheng Uk Village, non-residents are NOT allowed to enter, we just kept on moving forward to Luk Keng Village.

We kept on moving along Luk Keng Road. We could see Sha Tau Kok Sea (Starling Inlet; a Frontier Closed Area) nearby. After we had reached BB Cafe, it means we were already in Luk Keng Village!

We could see a Public Kitchen near the entrance of Luk Keng village, with 2 big and rusted "woks" on the stove. There's also another little food stall nearby, but was closed today.

A big and clear fish-pond inside Luk Keng Village.

Village houses near the minibus stop of Luk Keng Village. Most of them were built during 1960s. (As carved on the roofs of the village houses)

(http://nemm.hktraveler.com/)

Today is the event day for NEMM 2011!!! Many runners ran via Luk Keng Village and we acted as their temporary "cheerleaders". (http://nemm.hktraveler.com/eng/)

When we entered the inner part of Luk Keng Village, we could see all the houses are still in very old-styles. We could even see an old woman dressed in traditional Hakka clothings.

There's a little dessert house outside one of the old village houses at the back of Tachibana san. There are sweetened bean-curd and hand-made Hakka snacks (Sweet mochi and sesame candies!!). We ordered sweetened bean-curd and packs of Hakka Mama's delicious hand-made peanut candies.

An old village house built in 1969. Villagers liked to carve the year of construction on the roof of their houses in the past.

We had fun and played hide-and-seek inside the ruined village houses (Some may collapse any time!). Be careful when you go inside! The walls and ceilings may fall down any time!! There are lots of rumours about these old village houses that they are all haunted! But we just had great fun inside and didn't see anything strange.

Now we had entered the end of Luk Keng Village ~ Lo Wai. We continued our Haunted Houses Visit in the deepest part of this village, but still didn't have any psychic encounters this afternoon.
The village houses at this part are with beautiful outlook, but as they were being abandoned for many years, most of them are nearly covered by the trees.

A river as the water supply for this village, and an old well nearby.

An old artillery battery which is already here from the Qing Dynasty (Manchu Dynasty).

A look of the outside part of Luk Keng Village from the Inner Luk Keng village.

We couldn't stop ourselves from going into these old village houses for fun!!! We found many old cooking utensils in the old kitchen! Again, be careful when you want to go inside to have a look! These old village houses may collapse anytime!!!

A stone food grinder used in the old days.

Tachibana san was eating star-fruit outside the ruined village houses!!! There are lots of fruit trees near the abandoned houses, with nobody taking care of.

There are some abandoned houses along the path which leads to "Wan Tsat Ancient Path"

We moved back to the entrance of Luk Keng Village and had a look at other village houses NOT visited. Some look like military houses?! Are they left behind during World War II?
(Luk Keng village was occupied by the Japanese army during WWII, and many people were killed at that time. This is the reason why so many horrible rumours about this village)

We were in the minibus, now near Shek Chung Au, going back to Fanling.

We went back to Fanling Railway station, and walked to Exit B for Fung Ying Seen Koon, a Tao Monastery nearby. "Ming Toi" pavilion at the hillside is the MOST beautiful part here.
