Entrance of Ship Street(just cross Queen's Road East) ~ The well-known haunted house Nam Ku Toi is on the slope.
Very hot this morning... This goldie didn't want to move.
Here's a housewares shop @ Miu King Toi, the haunted school St Luke's Colleage is at the back.
This way to the haunted school...
The gate of the haunted school is locked. It's very dirty and creepy here, climb into the school is not recommended.
(Some windows are nearly falling down. Be careful when you're standing under the school premise.)
Walking upwards from the footpath near Miu King Toi, we could see a big tree-hole there.
A close-up of the tree hole~~ There should be a house here! But the house is already collapsed and only a wall is left behind.
Now the wall is completely intruded by the big banyan trees.
There's a staircase nearby~ can lead to the top of the wall to have a look... But there were lots of wasps nearby, we were afraid of being stinged. Some people said this is the REAL haunted house, rather than the one called "Nam Ku Toi". True or not? Really don't know...
The house at the opposite side is the well-known haunted house @ Ship Street, Nam Ku Toi.
Rushed down to the haunted house!
The main entrance of Nam Ku Toi... but NO entry....
Now moving upwards to another entrance of the haunted house.
Oh, we still couldn't go inside. There was NO such big board to block this entrance many years ago, and I had entered the front of this haunted house for a visit before. Quite an exciting experience.
There are many trees outside the haunted house~ A man hanged himself on one of these trees a few years ago.
Walked along Miu King Toi to Queen's Road East.
Hung Shing Temple @ Queen's Road East.
A very old-styled GoldSmith @ Queen's Road East, which is already closed.
Began our visit to Old Wan Chai District, from Stone Nullah Road.
Here's the Wan Chai Blue House, and other very old houses.
Stone Nullah Road Garden
Pak Tai Temple, next to Stone Nullah Garden.
The new Wan Chai market, already with air-conditioners installed.
We could see the buildings of Chun Yuen Street from Tai Yuen Street.
A corner of Tai Yuen Street (also is called "Toy Street")~~ In the past, there were food stalls all along this street. But most of these old shops were torn down due to Re-construction of the old district. I still cannot forget the veggie restaurant I visited every day, right here.
I'm a real Wan Chai lover. All because I had studied in this district many years ago, and I also have worked in Wan Chai for nearly 6 years.
In the old days, I saw many interesting things in Wan Chai, such as those old buildings, HK-styled food stalls, "Wedding card" street, food stalls in the streets, and even the "flying olives".
"Flying olives"? Actually it refers to a very funny way of selling olives in the streets.
In the past, the residential buildings were almost low-rise buildings, only a few stories tall.
A man, carried a big container full of olives, crying out in the street for selling his olives.
Children living in those old buildings nearby walked out to the balcony and asked the man to "fly" some olives to their flat.
Then the man threw a bunch of olives high in the sky to reach the kids' flats, and the kids threw money back to the man, and usually the man could "catch" the coins accurately.
Sounds interesting? Yes, it was a very interesting thing in the past. I also saw such funny things in Tai Yuen Street. But now as the buildings are high-rising, nobody can "fly" olives now.
Even now after work, I always go to Wan Chai for dinner, and also for renting my favourite new books.
