引水道登上獅子頭山
Now we enter from Ngong Ping Road, via the catchwater for the old mountain door.
Just go up.
引水道 The catchwater.
海天一境舊山門, 建於30年代.
大佛未興建前, 往寶蓮寺都是走這個位於獅子頭山的山門, 都是山路.
昔日沒有公共交通直達寶蓮寺, 訪客在深屈(今日的深屈道路口)出發, 經獅子頭山來到 "海天一境" 舊山門, 再步行上寺院的.
當時有山兜接送訪客, 不過不便宜.
Here we are @ the old mountain door of Po Lin Monastery!!!
It was built in the 1930s, before the construction of Big Buddha, visitors went up to Lion's Head Mountain and walked through this old mountain door for Po Lin Monastery.
NO public transport for Po Lin Monastery in the old days, visitors had to start from Sham Wat and then walk on muddy trails for Po Lin Monastery.
There were sedan chairs from Tai O to pick up visitors for the monastery, but only rich people could afford the fare.
海天一境山門, 建於30年代.
90年後, 我們有幸仍然可以看見這個被遺忘在獅子頭山的古蹟.

After 90 years, we're so lucky to see it still standing firmly inside the woods of Lion's Head Mountain.
Although (or luckily) not many people still remember it is still here.
