J

We took a train @ Ma On Shan Line (East Rail, starts from Tai Wai station) and got down @ Wu Kai Sha destination.
Wu Kai Sha now has become very urbanised like Shatin, which used to be a real "countryside" in the past, with trees everywhere during my childhood time.
Started from Exit A1, we walked along Sai Sha Road to the way for Ma On Shan Town Centre. Walked via the subway and then we reached Wu Kai Sha village.

J

Just a 5-10 mins' walk, we had reached Wu Kai Sha Village!! During my primary school times, I came here quite often for picnics, with my teachers and classmates, @ YMCA Wu Kai Sha Youth Village, for a half-day camp.
My teachers had brought us to Wu Kai Sha village for snacks!! At that time, Wu Kai Sha village was still not modernised, just with stone houses, bushes and some farmland.
We had a walk in the Feng Shui Forest this morning and found the village incinerator inside (for burning rubbish, there was one incinerator in the past for every village, as very limited rubbish-collection service was provided by the government for rural area in the past)!!!
The archway is very eye-catching, as you walk along Sai Sha Road (In the past, just a little wooden signboard was hanged outside the village).

J

Walk along Sai Sha Road to Villa Athena (private residential estate) and you can find the direction signs for YMCA Wu Kai Sha Youth village.

J

Starts from YMCA Wu Kai Sha Youth Village, you can reach the seaside and the public pier via this path.

J

Someone had made a big heart on the beach!! We also made a small one for our youngest, sweet and lovely team-mate, Tachibana san!!
Happy Valentine's Day, Tachibana san!!!

J

Playing @ the beach, and we found "image message" left by aliens on the sand, telling us to gather @ the ferry pier.

J

We kept on walking along the seacoast, with mangrove everywhere.

J

Now we were @ the old jetty, which is built with wooden boards (with big kerosene cans at the bottom).... it may collapse any time, as the wooden boards are rotten.
DON'T jump when you are walking on it!! NOT suitable for fat people.. :P
Three dogs were having a sunbath on the sand.

J

We walked and walked along the seacoast and then we reached To Tau Wan Village (Jetty Bay Village, near the jetty!).
There are boats for rental, food stalls and little huts for swimmers to have a shower (HK$5 each time).

J

Now we had reached the cape!!! Also the end-point of our walk!! We walked through some bushes and stopped near the sea cape to have a look.
The scenes are so beautiful!! GREEN everywhere!! Full of bushes, mangrove and algae!!
This side is Pak Shek, and if you keep on moving forward through the bushes, you may reach Sai Kung side.
Due to high tide this morning, we had to walk into the water!! I didn't notice that the trees at the seaside are full of thorns, when I grabbed a branch, the pain was so great, together with holes on my palm (Luckily my skin is very thick, no bleeding at all)!!

J

We walked along the village path for Ma On Shan railway station, as we were walking, we could find another village, with boats for rental!!!!

J

Leaving from Ma On Shan and ahead for Che Kung Temple!! All of us havn't been to Che Kung Temple before!! As it is the "birthday" of Deity Che Kung, it is the right time for us to have a visit!

J

Before going to Che Kung Temple, there is a monastery, "Koo Yim Monastery", which is a Thai monastery with the sculptures of the 5 Tathagata (For East, South, West and North with one at the top, who is for all directions) and Bodhisattvas, together with a sculpture of Brahma and God of Wealth from Thailand (originated from India).
Thai monastery is NOT common in Hong Kong, so we all went inside to have a visit.

J

Today was the beginning of Spring!! People everywhere @ the temple, they all came for the Spring carnival, for Deity Che Kung.

J

There is a Buddhist Monastery at the back of Che Kung Temple, Chi Hong Monastery, a silent and beautiful monastery, offering "Buddhist Studies" and relevant subjects,
for those who are interested in Buddhism.

For details please refer to their website: Chi Hong Monastery (Chinese ONLY).
