Moon watching @ Tsing Yi Waterfront Promenade:

It's getting dark gradually, time for lanterns and mooncake!!

Today is Mid-autumn Festival, the 15th day of the 8th month of Chinese calendar.
To celebrate the full moon coming this evening, I've brought mooncake, red bean paste bun (Japanese style), potato chips and 2 bottles of cold sweet tea., put every thing on my little camping table and wait for moonrise.

Mid-autumn Festival is a very important festival for Chinese people, kids love this holiday because they are allowed to eat as much snacks as they like, playing with lanterns in the street even after midnight with friends, going to lantern shows for fun... . etc...

A mini rabbit lantern, this is a very old style traditional lantern, nearly every kid in the past had got a rabbit lantern!!!
According to the legend, a big rabbit is helping Chang'e (moon Goddess) to make immortality medicine on the moon, so, kids playing with rabbit lanterns is a way to show respect / greet to this big rabbit.

Let's have fun on the beach!!

A big tent is near our camping area.

Some campers are waiting for the full-moon this evening.

Very strong sea-breeze hitting my shelter.

Hello Abir Toa!!

Pranky had a great fall!!

Sitting properly again....

It's starting to become dark, have a walk along the beach first.

Moon is rising and it's becoming dark.
Time to light up our lanterns, eat a mooncake and admire the moon.

Admiring the moon with mooncake.

Beautiful full moon!!

Walking to the bus terminus via the beach-side footpath.

Take a bus for Sunny Bay MTR station near DB North shopping mall.
We are going to Tsing Yi for a seaside moon watch.

Now outside Maritime Square @ Tsing Yi MTR station.
Nearly all the restaurants are full, so we just bought some bread as dinner.

Many people are watching the full moon along Tsing Yi Waterfront Promenade.

Full moon with Tsing Yi Island!!

Tsing Lai Bridge, connecting Lai King to Tsing Yi Island.
Tsing Yi used to be an outlying island in the old past.

A glowing dragon passing Tsing Lai Bridge??
It's an MTR train going to Tung Chung, the lights inside the train making it look like a glowing dragon.

Creepy and dark Kwai Chung Crematorium.

This part is Gin Drinker's Bay.
History of Gin Drinker's Bay & Gin Drinker's Line:
The glowing dragon is coming again.

We have arrived Tsing Yi Ferry Pier.
NO public ferry service available in Tsing Yi Pier any more from July 2000.
In the past, people went to Tsuen Wan or Central from this pier.
But people come here quite often for fishing.

Wonderland Villas.

Outside Maritime Square now.
Just cross the pedestrian bridge for Tsing Yi Park.

Have a break inside Tsing Yi Park, having our dinner (buns and cakes) here.
